Potential Boyfriend Interview

Potential Dialogue:

Me: Before I agree to go on a date with you, I'd like to set up an interview session to get to know you better. I have a list of questions I'll be asking you. You can either take them home and answer them, then hand them back to me at a later time or we could go sit down somewhere to discuss it.

Him: Are you serious?!

Me: I am very serious. For me, dating is a process where you seek out a potential life-partner. If you just want a casual fling or sex friend then I'm not interested. I'd rather find out ahead of time whether or not we're incompatible and skip a lot of the typical relationship drama. Still interested?

* How long are you willing to wait before having sex in your romantic relationships?
(Do you feel any pressure from your friends/society to get rid of your virginity as soon as possible?)

* Would you have an issue if, before agreeing to have sex, you were asked to take an STD test?
(Do you have anything to hide?)

* What religion are you?
(Will you and your God have an issue with me wearing pants instead of a skirt or dress?)

* Do you have a job?
(If you don't, shouldn't you be out there looking for one instead of wasting your time picking up women?)

* How do you usually spend your paycheck?
(On name-brand clothes and beer or do you do you actually know how to budget?)

* Hobbies?
(Do we have things in common we can enjoy together?)

* Do you like animals?
(Are you allergic to my beloved cat or have pets of your own that I'd fear for my life to be around?)

* Do you have any issues with homosexuals, blacks, the mentally handicapped, etc?
(I don't want to hear you bad-mouthing people because of stereotypes, but I also want you to be honest with me if you feel uncomfortable around them so I can work with that and vise-versa)

* Do you have a wish to travel?
(Or am I going to have to give up my dreams of a romantic vacation in Hawaii, taking a Murder Mystery Cruise, and touring Rome because you get sea-sick and are afraid of being on a plane?)

* If your relationship gets serious and along the way it catches into snags, would you be willing to seek counseling to stay together?
(Or do you have to much pride to see some 'wacko shrink'?)

* Do you keep in contact with any of your ex-girlfriends?
(I don't care if they're 'just friends' because ex's mean trouble 90% of the time)

* What're your beliefs about a woman's place in the home?
(Would you be threatened by my wanting to earn my own paycheck and not have to depend on you for everything?)

* If you got married, would you have any issues if your wife started making more money than you did?
(Or would you develop an inferiority complex and resentment towards her?)

* If you got married, would you insist on having a joint bank account?
(I like having my own money and as long as we agree on how much to set aside to pay for bills and such, I don't want to worry about having to ask your permission every time I want to buy something.)

* If you got married, would you have an issue with signing a prenuptial agreement?
(Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. With divorce rates being what they are, I don't want to risk being handed the short end of the stick)

* If you got married, would you want to have kids? And if so, how many and would they have to be biological? And if not, skip the next 2 questions.
(Unlike most women, I'm not too thrilled over the idea of bloating, morning sickness, labor pains and stretch marks. If you bring in kids from a previous marriage or want to adopt, I can do that)

* If you got married, had children, and one or more of them turned out gay, how would you react?
(Love is supposed to be unconditional and being gay is not a sin. I can't respect a person who'd disown their own children over not being able to help who they fall in love with)

* What's your disciplinary philosophy regarding children? How would you deal with a child that broke something, that told a lie, that stole something, etc?
(I might have radically different ideas regarding discipline than what you grew up with and if parents don't show a united front to their kids, they might try to play the parents off on each other)

* Do you always need to eat a full-course, home-cooked meal, or would you be okay living off cup-o-noodles a few times a week?
(I don't want to live in the kitchen, so unless you're the one doing the cooking...)

* What is your idea of fun? Dressing up and going to a convention/fair/festival? Going to a concert/party/bar? Getting drunk with friends? Themepark? Ballgame? Racetrack? Casino? Boardgames? Fishing? Road trips? Dancing at a club? Karaoke? Paintball/Lasertag? Etc?
(Will I end up having to go alone to places/events that I like because you think it's boring,embarrasing or stupid?)

* If someone cuts you off in traffic, how do you respond?
(Road-rage can easily escalate and that puts everyone inside the vehicle in danger, including me)

* If you ever confront your girlfriend to say you think she should lose weight, are you willing to exercise, diet and count calories along with her?
(Or are you going to eat a Big Mac with large fries in front of me while I pick at my salad?)

* Do you smoke, drink, do drugs or have close friends/family that do?
(How succeptable are you to peer pressure and would you please stay away from me if you ARE doing those things?)

* Do you gamble, play the stock market or invest your money in any other high-risk financial ventures?
(Will I have to worry about YOUR debt-collectors coming after ME?)

* How environmentally friendly are you? Do you recycle? Leave the water running when brushing your teeth? Leave the TV on when you leave the room? Wrap your entire hand with toilet paper before wiping?
(Sometimes it's the little annoyances that tick you off the most and I happen to be a tight-wad when it comes to resources)

* Do you need to live in a neat and tidy house or are you okay with a little mess?
(I'm something of a pack-rat, and I don't want to come home one day to find out you were 'spring-cleaning' and threw out my 'junk')

* It's not easy for me to trust people. How would you feel about going on our initial dates in separate cars, to populated places, and had a strict 10pm curfew?
(Most cases of rape were done by people the victim knew, such as in date-rape. I want to know you respect my comfort-zone so I can feel safe around you)

* And finally, do you have any questions for me?
